We’re excited to announce the successful launch of UMass Memorial Health’s (UMMH) new website! Guided by a clear mission to create a patient-centric online experience, the site streamlines access to critical healthcare information while reflecting UMMH’s commitment to serving patients and the community as an integrated health care system. The new digital experience benefits patients, providers, and internal teams alike.
Facing the end-of-life for their existing Drupal 7 platform, UMMH turned to Mighty Union to support their team in launching an up-to-date, refreshed digital experience. Leveraging our strategic approach and deep technical expertise, we supported UMMH every step of the way – from maintaining their existing website to developing and launching a modern, centralized digital solution powered by Drupal 10.
A few key highlights of this project include:
Centralized access for improved user experience: The new site merges multiple individual locations into one cohesive platform, simplifying navigation and enhancing visibility into services and locations.
Enhanced functionality and accessibility: The website prioritizes user needs with compliance to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, ensuring content is accessible to a wide range of users.
Robust integrations and educational resources: The site seamlessly integrates with Epic (UMMH’s medical system) and includes a Health Library powered by WebMD, along with the Simply Well blog, offering a rich resource of educational materials.
Scalable, in-house management: UMMH’s internal team now has the tools to manage and scale their digital presence autonomously, with advanced permissions and streamlined roles to efficiently update content and maintain the site.
Our journey with UMMH began in 2023 when they sought help to maintain their existing Drupal 7 site while planning for the future. We recommended and implemented an interim solution, migrating their old sites to Pantheon to ensure stability. This gave UMMH the runway needed to carefully build their new site while maintaining continuity in all operations.
The site’s launch represents more than a technical upgrade. In fact, it’s a complete transformation of how UMMH facilitates access to digital healthcare. From programmatic and manual content migrations to strategic UX improvements, we prioritized creating a platform that serves diverse audiences and critical needs.
We’re thrilled to continue supporting UMass Memorial Health with a success plan designed to scale and grow their digital capabilities as healthcare continues to evolve.
